Enugu Rangers have been crowned the champions of the 2023/2024 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) after securing a convincing 2-0 win over Bendel Insurance at their home ground in Enugu.

This decisive victory took the team to an unassailable 67 points, securing their title with one game remaining in the league.

The win came as a result of a series of unfortunate losses by Rangers’ closest rivals, Remo Stars and Enyimba, who fell 2-1 to Sunshine Stars and Sporting Lagos, respectively. This outcome effectively sealed the championship for Enugu Rangers, who have now claimed the top spot in the league standings.

The team’s dominant performance in the final stretch of the season has earned them the coveted NPFL title, marking a significant achievement for the Enugu-based club.

This victory marks Enugu Rangers’ eighth NPFL championship title. For their triumph, they will receive a N150 million ($96,000) cash prize. The 45-year-old coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, overwhelmed by the win, humbly stated, “I’m not the special one. They call me the WORKING ONE.”
