Nigerian Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South and an All-Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, has passed away in a London hotel.

The 52-year-old oil mogul and politician died of a suspected heart attack.

Ubah had traveled to London two days ago. His death was confirmed on a WhatsApp group chat of senators, who began pouring in tributes.

Just days before his demise, Ubah’s campaign council had donated a total of ₦71 million to the APC in Anambra State, including a personal donation of ₦50 million from the senator himself. This was part of his efforts to bolster the party’s presence and support his governorship ambitions ahead of the 2025 Anambra election.

Ubah had recently defected from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) to the ruling APC. He was serving his second term in the Senate, having been re-elected in 2023.

The Senate leadership and Ubah’s aides are yet to issue an official statement regarding his passing. The news has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, with many mourning the loss of a prominent figure and dedicated public servant.
