Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, daughter of President Bola Tinubu, has called on market women to caution their children against joining the planned protest scheduled for August 1-10, 2024.

The nationwide protest, titled “End Bad Government in Nigeria,” aims to address issues such as judicial reform, inflation control, and the reopening of national borders, as advertised on social media.

In a video that surfaced online on Sunday, Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja General of Lagos, spoke to a group of market women at Dosumu Market, emphasizing that there would be no protests in Lagos. She highlighted the destruction and lasting impact of the EndSARS protest four years ago, noting that many victims have yet to recover.

Tinubu-Ojo praised the Lagos State Government’s performance and urged patience with the Federal Government led by her father, suggesting that at least three years are needed before critiquing their efforts.

“Before you say a government has not done well, you have to allow them to spend at least three years in office,” Tinubu-Ojo stated.

She continued, “We should tell ourselves, our children at home, and our family members that there is nothing like a protest in Lagos state. It is not good. Recall the one they did before where they destroyed so many of our public assets. Do not allow your children to be used by some people who give them money to go and start fighting and destroying things.”

Tinubu-Ojo urged the market women to spread the message, asserting, “There is nothing like protest in Lagos state because the government is making us proud. They are making us proud. The state government is doing us well and for the one in the center, they just came into office. Before you say a government has not done well, you have to allow them to spend at least three years in office.”
