Ismaila Yusuf, known on X as @TruthToArewa, has called for mass mobilization, urging Nigerians to #OccupyDSSJQ until @Mallam_jabeer is released.

Mal. Jabir Ibrahim Taro, National Chairman of the Northern Comrades Movement of Nigeria (NCMN), has reportedly been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) as preparations for a nationwide protest against poor governance loom.

The initial confirmation of Taro’s detention came from activist @n6oflife6, who tweeted this evening, “I just got a call from @Mallam_jabeer that he has been detained by the DSS. This young man is peaceful and has been law-abiding over his protest arrangements. Arresting him before August 1 makes no sense. Efforts are being made to get him released. Nigeria, we hail thee.”

Earlier in the day, Taro had shared his ongoing efforts to organize the protest via Twitter: “#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: After a long conversation with the @PoliceNG, we couldn’t reach any agreement, but I will brief the public about the conversation later in the day. I am now on my way to meet the @OfficialDSSNG.” He has since been unreachable.

Further confirmation of Taro’s detention came from @EmirSirdam, who posted, “We are getting information that the rogue SSS aka DSS have detained @Mallam_jabeer. They are just trying to provoke Nigerians to act faster. To protest is not a crime; #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Protest is sacrosanct!”
