Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the founder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), is facing criticism from Nigerians after his recent prophecies shared during the September Holy Ghost Service.

In a series of tweets, Pastor Adeboye claimed that the Lord revealed to him that someone’s “next breakthrough will make headline news.” In another message, he stated, “Right now, you are a very ordinary person, but very soon, you will become distinguished.”

NN News Media recalled that Adeboye has also declared that the “glorious days” when the Nigerian naira was more valuable than the US dollar will soon return. He recalled experiencing uncommon financial miracles in his early days as the leader of RCCG when the naira had more purchasing power than it does now. Adeboye prayed that such days would return, stating, “If the Lord I serve is still on the throne, those glorious days will return”.

The backlash against Adeboye has intensified due to his perceived silence on current political issues under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

During the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Adeboye was vocal and even led a mass protest, calling the government a “failed state.” However, since Tinubu, a member of Adeboye’s tribe, took office, the pastor has refrained from criticizing the government.

Addressing the nation’s challenges, Pastor Adeboye commented that the leaders are “trying their best,” but argued that Nigeria’s problems are not just political, stating, “Nigeria’s challenges go beyond politics; we need a spiritual solution.”

Many Nigerians have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction, questioning why Adeboye has remained silent on the current administration’s actions while previously being outspoken against others.
