Kingsley Moghalu, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has announced that he will no longer participate in interviews regarding Nigeria’s economic crisis. Over the past several months, Moghalu has turned down all media requests, citing his belief that engaging in such dialogues is futile.

In a statement shared via his X handle, Moghalu expressed frustration over the lack of actionable response to his previous suggestions on improving the Nigerian economy. He described his decision as a response to what he perceives as “a dialogue with the deaf.”

Moghalu emphasized that his concern for Nigeria’s economic situation is driven by genuine passion rather than personal necessity. Despite his detachment from the immediate survival of the country’s economy, he remains deeply invested in its well-being. However, he acknowledges the reality that continued efforts may be in vain if there is no effective dialogue or action.

He concluded, “It’s ironic that people like us who actually do not need Nigeria and its economy for our personal survival are so concerned simply out of passion for our country. Yet, after a while, we must recognize the harsh truth and act accordingly.”
