Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and the severe disruption caused by the recent flooding in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

In a statement shared on his X account, Obi conveyed his heartfelt condolences to those affected by the disaster.

“I am deeply saddened by the multiple loss of lives and disruption of activities in Maiduguri, Borno State capital, which has just been hit by a devastating flood disaster,” Obi wrote. He lamented the impact on families who have been bereaved, homes that have been destroyed, and livelihoods that have been shattered.

Obi called on the federal and state governments to take immediate action to provide aid and relief to the victims of the flood, emphasizing the need for unity and national support in times of crisis. “In times like these, together as a nation, we must support each other,” he urged.

He further stressed the importance of collaborative efforts in rebuilding and restoring the affected communities. “May God console and protect the people of Maiduguri, and may He give them the courage and hope they need to face the days ahead,” Obi concluded.
