The Ijumu Local Government Area chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has dismissed the recent suspension of Senator Dino Melaye, labeling it as a forgery.
In a statement issued on Friday, signed by the PDP Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Council, Olorunmaiye Olabode, the chapter condemned the suspension, attributing it to external forces aiming to destabilize the party. The statement asserted that the letter announcing Melaye’s suspension was fraudulent and that the individuals behind it lacked the authority to take such action against a prominent party member.
The statement highlighted that the suspension was part of a broader scheme to undermine the party and its leadership. It emphasized that no Ward Ad hoc Congress occurred on July 27, 2024, nor was there an LGA Congress to elect a National Delegate. Additionally, the chapter denounced the State Congress held in Lokoja on August 31, 2024, as an illegitimate arrangement.
The Ijumu PDP condemned the forged suspension letter, noting discrepancies in its dates and details. They challenged the critics of Melaye, asserting that his contributions to the party are unparalleled. They also cited his financial support and efforts in maintaining party operations.
The statement concluded by urging party members to reject the unauthorized suspension and reaffirmed Melaye’s commitment to the PDP, insisting that he has always adhered to party guidelines and remains a dedicated leader.
