Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, shared a message on his X handle, expressing optimism following a major rally in Edo State.

“Yesterday, the national leadership of our party joined @OlumideAkpat and his deputy, Alhaji Kadiri Asamah Yusuf, after their mega rally in Edo State, wrapping up our campaign efforts ahead of the September 21st, 2024 election,” Obi wrote.

The event was graced by prominent figures from both the Labour Party and the Obidients Movement, including Senator Nenadi Usman, Labour Party Caretaker Chairman; Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed, Labour Party Vice Presidential Candidate; Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, Deputy Governor of Abia State; Senator Victor Umeh from Anambra Central; Senator Neda Imasuen of Edo South; Dr. Tanko Yunusa, National Coordinator of the Obidients Movement; and activist Aisha Yesufu, among others.

During the rally, Obi and other attendees reiterated their shared vision for a Nigeria founded on principles of competence, character, compassion, education, and a dedication to public welfare.

“In solidarity, we reaffirmed our commitment to and belief in democracy,” Obi emphasized, adding, “A new, more democratic Nigeria is POssible!”
