The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to Edo State citizens ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday.

The party urged voters to actively participate in the election and treat any individuals attempting to disrupt or manipulate the process as criminals.

In a statement released by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, the party called for vigilance against alleged plans by the All-Progressives Congress (APC) to deploy thugs disguised as security personnel.

These individuals are reportedly intended to intimidate voters, snatch ballot boxes, and create chaos during the election.

The PDP’s concerns stem from accusations that the APC is importing thugs from Imo and Kogi States, equipping them with fake police and military uniforms. The party has demanded that the Inspector General of Police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) implement measures to ensure that only legitimate security personnel are present at polling stations, including issuing identifiable badges.

Reiterating its commitment to a peaceful electoral process, the PDP emphasized that it would not tolerate any attempts by APC operatives to undermine democracy. The party has instructed its polling agents to be vigilant, inspect voting equipment for tampering, and ensure that results are promptly transmitted to INEC.

The PDP expressed confidence in its chances of victory, asserting that it has mobilized its supporters to defend their votes and uphold the democratic process. The party’s message is clear: any APC thug attempting to disrupt the election will face significant consequences.
