Operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended three individuals suspected of engaging in vote buying in Egor Local Government Area during the ongoing Edo governorship election.

As the election approached a pivotal moment, many polling units experienced delays due to the late arrival of officials and materials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In Egor, the EFCC acted swiftly, detaining two men and one woman who were observed distributing cash to voters awaiting their turn.

The EFCC had deployed a significant number of operatives across Egor and seven other local government areas identified as potential hotspots for electoral malpractice.

These areas include Ovia South-West, Ovia North-East, Egor, Oredo, Ikpoba Okha, Etsako West, Etsako East, and Esan South-East, all of which saw a strong presence of armed soldiers, police, and various security agencies alongside EFCC operatives.
