In the ongoing Edo governorship election, Labour Party (LP) candidate Olumide Akpata faced defeat at his polling unit, where he was outperformed by Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

At Polling Unit 11, Ward 06 in Oredo Local Government Area, Ighodalo garnered 41 votes, while Akpata received 32. The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, trailed with 19 votes.

In another notable instance at Polling Unit 05, Ward 02 in GRA/Etete, Ighodalo extended his lead with 58 votes. Okpebholo followed with 15 votes, while Akpata managed only 12.

Additionally, in Ward 3, Polling Unit 21 in Etsako West, Ighodalo maintained his dominance with 30 votes, edging out Okpebholo at 28 votes, while Akpata secured just 11, leaving the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate with a single vote.
