The Abia State government has provided financial support of N5 million to the families of late Inspector Oyibo Shehu and late Mr. Victor Godliveth, who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty in July.

Inspector Oyibo Shehu’s family received a cheque of N3.5 million, while Mr. Victor Godliveth’s family was given N1.5 million. The Commissioner of Police for the Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, presented the cheques on behalf of Governor Alex Otti. He expressed gratitude to the governor for recognizing the ultimate sacrifices made by the brave individuals who died while serving the state.

According to the police, the tragic incident occurred while the officers, part of the Rapid Response Squad, were patrolling Ngwa Road near Mosque Junction in Aba. The patrol came under fire from assailants.

“During the exchange of gunfire, two of the assailants were neutralized, while others escaped with bullet injuries,” stated Maureen Chinaka, the spokesperson of the Abia State Police Command.

Sadly, Inspector Shehu Oyibo and three civilians, including Chika Godliveth, Onyenaturuchi Jonah, and 18-year-old Eniobong Godsgift Clement, were killed by gunfire from the attackers.
