Nigerian economist and professor Pat Utomi took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share his frustrating experience with fuel shortages and banking issues.
He recounted a busy day that began with a meeting for the Teacher of the Year Judges at Nigerian Breweries. Running low on fuel, Utomi’s driver set out to a petrol station, only to face long queues.
They tried multiple stations, but the lines were even longer.
To save time, Utomi decided to withdraw cash from an ATM so the driver could handle the wait at the station.
However, he encountered network issues at four different banks, leaving him unable to access cash.
Eventually, he gave the driver US dollars to exchange for naira in order to purchase fuel. As Utomi headed back to Victoria Island, he reported that the traffic was chaotic, worsened by the ongoing fuel line problems.
