Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has aligned himself with the frustrations of suffering Nigerians, criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s handling of the economy and dubbing him “T-Pain.”
While “T-Pain” is traditionally the stage name of American singer Faheem Najm, Nigerian social media users have adopted the nickname for President Tinubu, highlighting his perceived role in the country’s ongoing economic struggles.
Atiku expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s soaring inflation, remarking that it was alarming how indifferent President Tinubu appeared to be in the face of the nation’s economic woes. He called Tinubu’s economic policies “haphazard” and accused the president of a disingenuous approach to governance. According to Atiku, these failures are at the core of Nigeria’s current economic hardship.
“As the situation stands, inflation will continue to rise, further eroding the material well-being of Nigerians,” Atiku warned. “It’s even more troubling that T-Pain seems unbothered by the growing hardship across the country.”
