The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has announced a nationwide electricity system collapse, disrupting power supply to residents of the Southeast region.

The collapse occurred on Monday, October 14th, 2024, at approximately 6:48 PM, according to a statement released by Mr. Emeka Ezeh, Head of Corporate Communications for EEDC.

Ezeh confirmed that the general system collapse has led to widespread outages across the EEDC network. As a result, all interface stations of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) have lost supply, impacting customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.

The company is on standby and is awaiting further information on the collapse and updates on the restoration of power from the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo.

EEDC expressed its appreciation for the patience of its customers during this disruption.
