On November 9, 2024, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi expressed his admiration for Sen. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, and his former VP at a formal event in Abuja.

Baba-Ahmed was honored with the role of Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Baze University, marking him as the institution’s third Chancellor.

In a heartfelt statement, Obi praised Baba-Ahmed’s invaluable contributions to Nigeria’s growth, particularly through his investments in education and healthcare. Obi highlighted Baba-Ahmed’s founding of both Baze University in Abuja and Baba-Ahmed University in Kano as key efforts in fostering educational opportunities for Nigeria’s youth.

The day was also marked by Baze University’s 11th Convocation Ceremony, where degrees and higher degrees were awarded. Obi extended congratulations to the university community and wished the new graduates success in their future endeavors, encouraging them to play active roles in Nigeria’s progress.
