Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, recently demonstrated his commitment to education in Nigeria through two significant acts of support.
During a visit to St. John of God Secondary School in Awka for their 60th-anniversary celebration, Obi presented a cheque for 15 million Naira on behalf of an alumna, Mrs. Bridget Egodi Egbujiobi.
The donation came about after Obi’s visit to the United States, where he met with Dr. Leo and Mrs. Bridget Egbujiobi. Upon learning about the school’s upcoming anniversary and need for support, Mrs. Egbujiobi, a proud alumna, decided to make the generous contribution.
During his visit to the school, Obi encouraged students to prioritize their education, emphasizing the importance of skills acquisition for future success.
Following this, Obi visited the new Regina Caeli School of Nursing in Awka, where he personally contributed 10 million Naira to support the institution.
Obi reaffirmed his dedication to supporting critical areas of development, including education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation. His actions align with his vision for a “new Nigeria,” which he believes is possible through such initiatives.
These recent contributions reflect Obi’s ongoing commitment to improving Nigeria’s educational landscape, a key aspect of his political platform during the 2023 presidential campaign24. As a former governor of Anambra State, Obi has consistently emphasized the importance of education and skills development in driving national progress
