The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) reported on Monday that airstrikes carried out by the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully neutralized several terrorists in Niger State.

According to a statement from the NAF, the airstrikes targeted strategic arms depots, including the residence of notorious terrorist leader Mallam Saleh, a close ally of Dogo Gide.

Saleh, who has been terrorizing vulnerable communities in Shiroro Local Government Area, was known for his brutal attacks, abductions, and extortion activities. The NAF explained that the airstrikes, which took place on November 16, 2024, resulted in the destruction of a key weapons cache and the obliteration of Saleh’s residence in the Palele area.

The statement highlighted that the NAF had been closely monitoring Saleh’s movements and gathering critical intelligence, which led to the successful operation. As NAF aircraft approached the target zone, terrorists on motorcycles were spotted, and a series of swift, precise strikes destroyed the arms depot, significantly weakening Saleh’s network.

A secondary explosion confirmed the total destruction of the munitions, effectively crippling the terrorist’s operational capabilities.

NAF spokesperson, Olusola Akinboyewa, emphasized that this operation is part of the Air Force’s larger strategy to dismantle terrorist strongholds and restore peace to affected regions.
