A criminal gang consisting of three suspects has been apprehended in Anambra State. The arrests were made by a police-led Anti-Sit-At-Home Joint Patrol in collaboration with the Anambra Vigilante Operatives on Monday morning.
The information was released by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who provided details to the media on Tuesday.
The incident occurred around 10 AM in Nkwelle-Ezunaka. One of the suspects, known as Akada, is wanted for armed robbery, illegal possession of a firearm, and enforcing an illegal sit-at-home order.
During the operation, law enforcement recovered an English-made pistol and other incriminating items. The arrested individuals have been identified as Chinedu Amah and Prince Nwogu, both residents of Nkwelle-Ezunaka.
According to the police statement, the suspects were caught following a hot pursuit after a victim raised an alarm about being held at gunpoint and robbed of his iPhone and other personal belongings. All three suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime and named Akada as their gang leader, who remains at large. Authorities are actively working to locate additional members of the gang.
