Osita Chidoka, a former Minister of Aviation, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), marking a significant shift in his political career.
In a resignation letter dated November 29, 2024, Chidoka expressed his decision to step away from partisan politics permanently, emphasizing his commitment to good governance and national unity.
In his letter, Chidoka conveyed gratitude towards the PDP for the opportunities he received during his tenure. He stated, “I leave the PDP with immense respect and gratitude and wish the party every success as it continues to reposition itself as a force for positive change in Nigeria.” He highlighted his intention to dedicate his efforts to the Athena Centre, a nonprofit organization focused on public policy and leadership training in Nigeria.
Chidoka’s resignation comes amidst ongoing discussions about electoral integrity in Nigeria. He has previously criticized the electoral process, particularly regarding alleged irregularities in recent elections. His focus now shifts towards collaborating with like-minded individuals to reform the political landscape through evidence-based governance.
Chidoka concluded his letter with a hopeful vision for Nigeria, stating, “I remain hopeful of a renascent Nigeria guided by the spirit of Naija—that shared space where ethnicity and religion do not impede our collective aspirations for a great nation.”
