Former Director General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) States Assembly Forum (ASAF), Fubara Dagogo, has called on the people of Rivers State to endorse former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mike Mbama Okiro, as their consensus candidate for the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo.

The Imo Obi and general assembly had previously declared that it was Rivers State’s turn to produce the next Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo President-General after Imo State’s term ends on January 10, 2025.

In a statement, Dagogo described Okiro as a candidate who would bring significant benefits to both Rivers State and the Ndi-Igbo community. He emphasized that Okiro’s extensive experience and knowledge would be advantageous for the stabilization and further integration of Ndigbo within Nigeria.

Dagogo highlighted the need for a leader like Okiro to foster cooperation between Rivers State and its neighbors in the South East and South South regions, which could help reduce political tensions. He praised Okiro as a man of the people, who has remained neutral in political divides and has a wealth of experience in security and international relations.

Dagogo urged the government and people of Rivers State, as well as the broader Ndi-Igbo community, to seize the opportunity to have Okiro lead Ohanaeze Ndigbo, stressing that his leadership qualities and charisma are essential for moving the community forward.
