Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), visited the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Enugu, where victims of a recent gas explosion are being treated.

Obi shared photos from his visit on X, revealing the tragic incident that left three family members of social media influencer and Obi supporter, @Uptownoflagos, with severe third-degree burns.

@Uptownoflagos had earlier appealed to Nigerians for prayers and financial support for the victims’ medical expenses. During his visit, Obi expressed his support and prayers for the victims, emphasizing the importance of unity and support during such challenging times.

Obi stated, “Today, I visited the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Enugu following the heartbreaking news of a ghastly gas explosion that occurred a few days ago at the home of one of our Obidient family members, @Uptownoflagos. The tragic incident left three of his brothers with severe third-degree burns. I was there to offer my support and prayers during this challenging time. Such an unfortunate event weighs heavily on us all.”

He continued, “My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their loved ones, and everyone facing similar challenges across the country. I continue to pray for their complete recovery and that God Almighty grants them healing, strength, and comfort. As we work toward building a nation where safety, healthcare, and basic amenities are prioritized, let us remain united and supportive of one another.”
