As Nigeria welcomes the dawn of 2025, Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has called for a new era of public awareness and vigilance.

In his New Year’s message, he emphasized the critical role of every Nigerian in observing and critiquing the actions of political leaders.

Abubakar urged citizens to hold leaders accountable at all levels of government, stressing that unchecked power could undermine our freedoms and lead to exploitation for personal gain. Reflecting on the past year, he acknowledged 2024’s challenges as a stark reminder of the need for governmental transparency and accountability.

Expressing gratitude for the grace to see another year despite numerous trials, Abubakar highlighted how these challenges have strengthened the faith of the nation. He sees this faith as a beacon that will guide Nigeria forward into the new year.

He called for a collective effort to protect democratic principles and resist any division based on religion or ethnicity. “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty,” he stated, emphasizing the need for constant watchfulness to safeguard democracy.

Abubakar’s prayers for 2025 include hopes for economic revitalization, freeing the nation from the grips of hardship. He remembered those lost to life’s struggles in the previous year, underlining the urgent tasks ahead.

In closing, he wished all Nigerians a prosperous New Year, filled with blessings and success, advocating for a united effort to build a safer, stronger, and more cohesive Nigeria.
