Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, made condolence visits in Jigawa and Niger States to address recent personal losses among state leaders.
During his visit to Jigawa State, Obi expressed his solidarity with Governor Mallam Umar A. Namadi, who is mourning the tragic loss of his mother and son. “In continuation of my New Year engagements, I visited Jigawa State to commiserate with and stand in solidarity with my brother, the Governor, His Excellency Mallam Umar A. Namadi,” Obi stated. He shared his prayers and thoughts for the Governor’s family and the entire Jigawa community, wishing for divine strength and solace during this period of grief.
Obi also prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased and for their souls to find peace in Aljanna Firdausi.
Continuing his New Year engagements, Obi visited Minna, Niger State, where he met with Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, the former governor known as the “Chief Servant.” This visit was to express condolences for Aliyu’s recent loss of his mother and younger sister. Obi underscored the significance of community support during such trying times, offering his heartfelt sympathies.
Beyond condolences, their conversation delved into the broader themes of nation-building and the collective responsibility to forge a hopeful future for Nigeria.
