President Bola Tinubu expressed gratitude on Friday in Abuja for Finland’s intervention in the arrest and detention of Simon Ekpa, emphasizing Nigeria’s zero-tolerance policy towards notorious terrorists like detained Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and Bello Turji, who threaten the Nigeria’s citizens peace.
During the reception of the Letters of Credence from Finnish Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms. Sanna Selin, at the State House, President Tinubu commended Finland for its timely action, which, he said, helped protect Nigeria’s integrity and avoid escalating tensions.
The Finnish Ambassador, Ms. Selin, acknowledged that Simon Ekpa’s activities had been undermining Nigeria-Finland relations.
Tinubu also welcomed Letters of Credence from Mr. Gautier Mignot, Ambassador of the European Union, and Mr. Hocine Mezoued, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Algeria.
In his remarks, President Tinubu reiterated his commitment to human rights and national cohesion, highlighting the importance of stability and cooperation for Nigeria’s development. “We are committed to safeguarding the rule of law, which is fundamental to our democratic values,” Tinubu said, emphasizing that Nigeria’s indivisibility must be upheld to ensure a peaceful future.
