Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has firmly denied any involvement in the pregnancy rumors surrounding former BBN housemate Nengi Rebecca Hampson, attributing the false claims to his political adversaries.

The allegations gained traction after a well-known blogging platform suggested that Governor Diri was responsible for Nengi’s pregnancy. In response, Nengi publicly refuted the claims on her social media channels.

Reacting to the blogger’s report, Governor Diri expressed shock and dismay at the spread of such falsehoods, especially on a day when his administration was celebrating its 5th anniversary. Dr. Kola Oredipe, the director of new media for the governor, emphasized on social media that Nengi has no personal relationship with Governor Diri. He lamented that the purveyors of fake news are attempting to undermine the governor’s rising political profile.

“This is a distraction and a clear example of why regulating social media is necessary,” Dr. Oredipe stated. “While we were inaugurating a new road in Yenagoa, social media propagandists were busy spreading lies about the governor. Governor Diri is a man of honor and integrity,” he added.
