Details have emerged regarding a closed-door meeting between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The meeting has sparked speculation about a possible political alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Abubakar’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, confirmed the meeting, revealing that the former vice president was accompanied by ex-Cross River State governor Aminu Tambuwal, former Sokoto State governor, and Bauchi Central senator Abdul Ningi.

A source familiar with the discussions suggested that the meeting was linked to ongoing coalition talks in preparation for 2027. “The meeting is related to coalition talks,” the source disclosed.

However, addressing the press at 2:17 p.m. after the meeting, Atiku dismissed any political motives, insisting that his visit was purely a courtesy call to his former boss.

“I am here on a courtesy visit. I am not here to talk politics. My visit to Obasanjo has nothing to do with 2027,” Atiku stated.

Despite his remarks, political analysts believe the meeting could signify early strategic discussions for the next election cycle.
