Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, addressed the people of Rivers State today, emphasizing his commitment to constitutional order, peace, and the well-being of the state’s residents despite ongoing political difficulties.
He reaffirmed commitment to peace, stability, good governance after General Bola Tinubu’s coup in Rivers state.
In his statement, Governor Fubara highlighted that since taking office, his administration has prioritized the safety of lives and property while striving for the continuous advancement of Rivers State.
He noted that even amidst a political impasse, his government has acted in good faith to implement peace agreements brokered by the President and complied swiftly with a Supreme Court judgment to restore normalcy.
However, the Governor expressed disappointment that members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have repeatedly obstructed these efforts, hindering genuine progress and peace. Despite these challenges, he reassured the public that governance has continued effectively, with salaries paid, major projects underway, and the state remaining safe and secure under his leadership.
Governor Fubara called on Rivers people to remain peaceful and law-abiding, pledging to work with relevant institutions to strengthen democracy and ensure the state’s continued growth. He praised the resilience of the people and expressed confidence in overcoming the situation through wisdom, patience, and faith in the democratic process.
