Former House of Representatives member, Hon. Nicholas Ukachukwu, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for Anambra State, following a decisive win in the party’s primary election held on Saturday.

Ukachukwu secured a commanding 1,455 votes, outpacing his closest rivals — Valentine Ozigbo (67 votes), Johnbosco Onunkwo (26 votes), and Edozie Madu (8 votes).

The APC now looks ahead to the Anambra State governorship election, scheduled for November 8, 2025.

In his victory speech, Ukachukwu expressed confidence in his ability to lead the APC to electoral success in the state. “We shall deliver Anambra to the APC,” he declared. “Nobody has ever won the governorship of Anambra without my support — it has never happened before. I have been playing godfatherism, but now I want to be the father of the father — no more godfather.”

His remarks signal a shift in his political role from behind-the-scenes influencer to front-line leadership.
