Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has formally thrown his weight behind Chief George Muoghalu as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the November 2025 off-cycle election in Anambra State.
The endorsement took place at the official campaign flag-off rally held at All Saints Cathedral Field, Onitsha, drawing large crowds and major party stakeholders.

Addressing supporters, Obi underscored the importance of issue-based politics, distancing himself from ongoing rumors linking him to an opposition alliance led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“We joined Labour Party gubernatorial candidate for Anambra State 2025 election, Chief George Muoghalu, and his deputy, Prof. Ifeoma Okaro, at All Saints Cathedral Field, Onitsha, to flag off his campaign,” Obi stated.

Obi urged Labour Party members and supporters to avoid mudslinging and focus on solutions to the state’s key challenges.
“I urge all our members to ensure that our campaign is devoid of name-calling, but strictly based on issues security of lives and property, better education for our children, a stronger health sector, and support for small businesses,” he said.
