President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a generous reward package for Nigeria’s Super Falcons after their historic victory in the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). Each of the 24 players will receive $100,000 following their remarkable performance that secured Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title.

In a dramatic final held on Sunday in Rabat, Morocco, the Super Falcons staged a stunning comeback from two goals down to defeat the host nation 3-2. The victory not only sealed their dominance in African women’s football but also matched their own record for the most WAFCON titles won.

President Tinubu hosted the triumphant team at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, where he personally commended the players and the coaching staff for their resilience, determination, and national pride.

In recognition of their achievement, Tinubu awarded national honours — the Order of the Niger (OON) — to each of the players and members of the technical crew. Alongside the cash rewards, each player will also receive a three-bedroom apartment in one of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Housing Estates.

Additionally, the president announced a cash reward of $50,000 each for the 11 members of the Super Falcons’ technical team.

“These women have not only made Nigeria proud but have reminded us all of what resilience and teamwork can achieve. Today, we honour your victory and sacrifice,” President Tinubu stated during the ceremony.

The reward package is seen as one of the most substantial ever given to a Nigerian national sports team, further underlining the administration’s support for women’s football and sports development in the country.
