Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has extended warm congratulations to 17-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu from Yobe State, who has been named the World’s Best in English Language Skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London.
In a statement posted on his official X account, Atiku described Nafisa’s global achievement as a shining example of what the Nigerian girl-child can achieve when given access to quality education and a nurturing environment.
“Nafisa’s outstanding success is a powerful testament to the limitless potential of the Nigerian girl-child when provided with quality education and a supportive environment,” Atiku stated.
“Investing in girls’ education is not merely an issue of equity it’s a strategic imperative for national development. As a society, we must remove all barriers preventing our girls from reaching their full potential.”
Nafisa, a student at Nigerian Tulip International College, triumphed over more than 20,000 participants from 69 countries, earning top honors in a competition that tests English proficiency, communication skills, and critical thinking.
The TeenEagle Global Finals is a prestigious international contest for students from both English-speaking and non-English-speaking nations.
Nafisa’s family credited her discipline, dedication, and the strong backing of the Yobe State Government, particularly Governor Mai Mala Buni, for creating the environment in which she could thrive.
“Our daughter’s success is a result of hard work and the visionary support for education by Governor Mai Mala Buni. His commitment has brought international honour to Yobe and Nigeria,” said Hassan Salifu, a representative of the family.
The family also expressed gratitude to the staff of Nigerian Tulip International College for nurturing Nafisa’s academic excellence.
“This achievement is a clear reflection of what targeted investment in education can achieve. Yobe State’s transformation under Governor Buni has given students like Nafisa the opportunity to shine globally.”
