Former Governor of Jigawa State and senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not enjoy the support of right-thinking Northerners in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking at an expanded PDP caucus meeting in Dutse, Jigawa State, Lamido criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, blaming it for widespread poverty, insecurity, and economic hardship across the country.

He alleged that both the Tinubu-led administration and its predecessors under the APC have deceived and betrayed Nigerians, especially the Northern populace. According to Lamido, “We have been telling people Tinubu does not like the North; he doesn’t like anything that will help in developing the North. During his tenure as governor of Lagos, Northerners were maltreated, attacked, and killed.”

Lamido also alleged that Tinubu’s 2023 electoral victory was heavily influenced by financial inducements and lacked genuine nationwide support. He stated that even respected regional groups such as ACF, Ohanaeze, and Afenifere distanced themselves from his candidacy.

“It’s quite unfortunate for any Northerner to support Tinubu’s reelection bid despite the position he is holding be it minister, governor, or lawmaker,” Lamido said. “I don’t think a right-thinking person from the North will support Tinubu’s reelection bid again in the coming 2027 election.”

He urged Nigerians to put aside political, religious, and ethnic differences to reclaim the country from what he described as failed leadership.

Lamido expressed hope in the PDP’s ability to regroup and present a credible alternative in 2027, signaling that efforts are underway to reposition the party for national rescue.
