Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused his successor, Senator Uba Sani, of being behind the violent disruption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) transition committee inauguration held in Kaduna last Saturday.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, El-Rufai alleged that there is concrete evidence linking the governor to the attack, which targeted opposition politicians at the event.
“I have evidence; the Kaduna State Governor is behind Saturday’s attacks,” El-Rufai claimed. “I will submit evidence to the IGP and other relevant authorities if they are willing to investigate.”
The former governor also criticized Nigeria’s security architecture, claiming the police stood by while thugs stormed the venue and attacked members of the opposition.
“The policing system has collapsed in Nigeria,” he lamented, accusing security forces of inaction during the chaos.
The violence occurred during the official inauguration of a transition committee jointly formed by opposition parties in the state. The event was marred by the sudden invasion of suspected political thugs, leading to a breakdown of order.
El-Rufai, who has distanced himself from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is now a leading figure in the opposition coalition, which has adopted the ADC as its platform ahead of the 2023 general elections.
