Veteran Nollywood actor and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has debunked speculations of a fallout with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stressing that his political focus is now fully with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the 2027 elections draw closer.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday, Okonkwo reaffirmed his commitment to the ADC and pledged to support whichever candidate emerges from the party’s presidential primaries.

“Whoever wins the election of ADC in the presidential primary, I will support,” he declared.

Okonkwo further clarified that he harbors no personal grievances against Obi, with whom he collaborated closely during the 2023 elections under the Labour Party.

“I don’t have any personal problem with my brother, Peter Obi,” he said. “My decision to stand with the ADC is guided by principles and loyalty to the party, not personal differences.”

He emphasized that securing the party’s presidential ticket is only one step, while the greater challenge lies in winning the general election with broad nationwide support.

Okonkwo also noted that although his political bond with Obi was formed through their work in the Labour Party, their paths have since diverged:

“We met each other in the Labour Party. Obi is no longer there. So, going forward, there will be a new arrangement, and everyone has the right to decide what direction to take.”
