Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has officially dissolved the Rivers State Pensions Board, effective immediately.

The announcement was made on Friday evening in Port Harcourt through a Government Special Announcement by the State Head of Service, Mrs. Inyingi Brown.

The statement indicates that the office of the State Accountant General will temporarily oversee the functions of the board until a new board is constituted.

No reason was provided for the dissolution, but former board members have been instructed to hand over all board properties and assets in their possession to the Director of Administration.

“The Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Rivers State Pensions Board. Consequently, the Office of the Accountant General will handle the board’s functions until a new board is constituted. Members of the defunct board are advised to hand over all properties and assets to the Director of Administration,” the statement read.

The announcement follows Governor Fubara’s reinstatement on September 18 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who lifted the State of Emergency in Rivers State.
