Online publisher Nkiruka Nistoran, through NN News Media, has issued a strong warning to Governor Alex Otti over what she describes as a growing threat of instability in Abia State allegedly linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Nistoran cautioned that although current activities by the group may appear to be small-scale protests, they have the potential to escalate into serious security challenges if not promptly addressed.
She urged the governor to take swift and decisive action to safeguard the peace and development Abia has enjoyed since his administration began.
“If you allow IPOB to destabilize Abia, all the progress you’ve made in rebuilding the state could be undone. They’re starting with small protests, but it may escalate into something far more dangerous, possibly involving armed men,” Nistoran warned.
Nistoran advised security agencies to be vigilant and clamp down on gatherings organized under the guise of “elders” or “Jewish worshippers,” emphasizing that such platforms could be exploited by political opportunists to create chaos and undermine the government’s efforts.
NN News Media recalls that recently, some elders from old Abia staged a protest at the Government House, while another group of Jewish worshippers also demonstrated, demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader currently facing terrorism charges and detained by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Nistoran concluded by urging Governor Otti not to allow political distractions or orchestrated protests to derail his administration’s developmental strides and hard-won stability.
