Barring any last-minute changes, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah is set to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and officially join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, 14th October 2025.

The governor is reportedly moving to the APC alongside other elected officials in the state, including members of the Enugu State Assembly currently in the PDP.

The news of the impending defection was confirmed by APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda on Friday, during the inauguration of a seven-member APC caretaker committee for Enugu State in Abuja.

Dr. Ben Nwoye, the newly sworn-in chairman of the Enugu APC caretaker committee, also confirmed the governor’s decision to journalists in Abuja.

This move follows a trend earlier this year, when PDP governors Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State defected to the APC. Reports also suggest that Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri may soon follow suit.
