President Bola Tinubu has disclosed that Nigeria is seeking military assistance from Turkey to strengthen its fight against insecurity across the country.

The President made this known during a meeting with leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at his Lagos residence, where he called for their cooperation and support in achieving national objectives.

Tinubu explained that Nigeria is still awaiting the delivery of four attack helicopters ordered from the United States, noting that the procurement of military hardware is often slow, costly, and not readily available. In the interim, he said the government has approached Turkey for support to bolster security operations.

Assuring citizens of the commitment of security agencies, the President acknowledged the scale of the challenge posed by Nigeria’s vast ungoverned spaces but expressed confidence that the situation would be overcome through collective effort, vigilance, and faith.

He also revealed that plans for Community and State Police are underway and will become a reality once the National Assembly completes the necessary legislative processes.

The disclosure comes amid ongoing military cooperation between Nigeria and the United States. Recently, US President Donald Trump announced that American forces had conducted airstrikes in North-West Nigeria targeting terrorists—an operation later confirmed by the Nigerian government as a joint effort.
