At least eight people have been confirmed dead, while four others remain missing, following a Boko Haram attack on three communities in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The attack occurred late Monday night in the villages of Zah, Mubang Yadul, and Kijing, sending residents fleeing for safety.

Confirming the incident in a telephone interview on Tuesday, the Chairman of Hong Local Government Area, Inuwa Usman Wa’aganda, said security operatives had recovered eight bodies from the affected communities, while search operations were ongoing to locate four residents still unaccounted for.

Wa’aganda disclosed that several houses and shops were set ablaze during the raid, with residents losing food supplies and other sources of livelihood. He added that the attackers escaped into nearby bushes before the arrival of security forces.

“It is true that Boko Haram attacked Mubang, Zah, and Kijing villages. So far, eight corpses have been recovered, and four persons are still missing,” he said.

The council chairman appealed to the state and federal governments for urgent intervention to provide relief for displaced residents and support their resettlement.

A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also confirmed the incident, describing it as unfortunate and noting that security agencies had intensified patrols across the area.

The latest attack has heightened concerns over a possible resurgence of insurgent activities in parts of Adamawa State, despite ongoing counterterrorism efforts in Nigeria’s North-East.
