Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to abandon any plan to seek re-election in 2027, instead he should preapring to pack out of aso rock, warning that he would face outright rejection by voters.
The call was made by the Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP), which said its assessment of the past two years under Tinubu’s administration shows what it described as a woeful performance.
In a statement signed by its Protem National Coordinator, Obinna Nwachukwu, the group dismissed the President’s New Year address as a collection of unsubstantiated claims and projections that, according to them, do not reflect the realities facing Nigerians.
The CP-PDP stated that its advice is based on what it described as widespread public disapproval and a growing loss of confidence in the administration, which it claimed has been rated the worst in Nigeria’s history due to unprecedented failures.
The group further alleged that both national and international governance assessments have ranked the Tinubu-led APC government as the most inept, insensitive, and corrupt the country has witnessed.
According to the statement, the administration has failed to provide a clear direction in key areas such as security, the economy, education, healthcare, housing, power, transportation, and infrastructure.
It also accused the government of implementing policies that have allegedly crippled productive and service sectors, discouraged investment, forced multinational companies to exit, led to the collapse of small and medium-sized enterprises, and resulted in massive job losses. The group added that rising hardship, weakened purchasing power, and growing hopelessness now define daily life for many Nigerians.
The CP-PDP concluded that Nigerians across party lines are eagerly looking ahead to 2027 to vote out the APC and install what it described as a truly people-oriented government, which it believes only the PDP can provide.
