Peter Obi, one of the leading figures in the African Democratic Congress, has said he is uncertain about his chances of winning the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a video message to his supporters, Obi explained that there is no guarantee the party will give him its nomination, emphasizing that his involvement is driven more by purpose than personal ambition.

He told supporters that certainty is not possible when it comes to the party’s decision, adding that the main focus is staying committed to the cause.

The former Labour Party presidential candidate also reiterated his commitment to his political goals, despite reported threats and the unpredictable nature of opposition politics in Nigeria.

Obi thanked his supporters for their loyalty and sacrifices, recognizing the difficulties of staying in the opposition without immediate rewards.

He noted that being in the opposition is not easy in Nigeria and expressed gratitude to those who continue to support him even when there is no clear benefit.

Obi also raised questions about the reliability of political alliances, expressing concern over whether current partners will remain committed over time.

His remarks come as the ADC and other political groups continue discussions on strategies and potential candidates for the 2027 presidential election.
