Former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson has said that removing the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections has become a task that Nigerians must take seriously.

Dickson, who represents Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, spoke on Tuesday during an interview on Politics Today on Channels Television.

He blamed the APC for Nigeria’s current problems, saying the country has gone from bad to worse under its leadership. He argued that when the party was formed in 2014, it did not have a clear plan for developing the country, but was mainly focused on removing the Peoples Democratic Party and former President Goodluck Jonathan from power in the 2015 elections.

According to him, the APC came together with the promise of change, but change can either improve or worsen a situation. He said in Nigeria’s case, things have worsened across key areas.

He listed insecurity, the economy, corruption, and democratic development as areas where the country has declined. He also said the government has not done enough to respect Nigeria’s diversity.

Dickson added that corruption has become more serious, with people now talking about very large amounts of money, sometimes in trillions.

He said that removing the APC in 2027 will require more than complaints, stressing that Nigerians and opposition groups must come together, plan properly, and present a clear alternative if they want to succeed.
