Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El Rufai, was laid to rest in Abuja on Sunday after passing away in Cairo Egypt, where she had been receiving medical treatment.

She was buried at Gudu Cemetery following Islamic funeral prayers.

Many prominent political figures attended the burial, showing support for the El-Rufai family. Guests included former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, former Anambra State governor Peter Obi and Senator Aminu Tambuwal.

Others are the current Kaduna State governor Uba Sani. National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda also joined the mourning.

Earlier, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other senior leaders sent condolence messages to the family.

Several dignitaries visited El-Rufai at his Abuja home to pay their respects.
