Several leaders of the ADC party, including Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, David Mark, and Rauf Aregbesola, were seen marching through the streets of Abuja.

They are leading a protest called Save Democracy, which started at Maitama Roundabout and is expected to move toward the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

Atiku and the ADC leadership claim that the electoral body is working with the ruling APC in a way that could harm Nigeria’s democracy.

Protesters carried placards with messages like Hands off our courts as they moved through the city. Amaechi was also seen speaking to the crowd from a van during the march.

Atiku shared moments from the protest on his social media page, saying the demonstration is peaceful and aimed at challenging what he described as bias from the electoral body. He added that the goal is to protect democracy and stop any move toward dictatorship.

Earlier, Peter Obi had urged Nigerians who care about democracy, unity, and peace to join the protest. He said the movement is against the idea of a one party system and is about defending the country’s democratic values.

A video shared by his photographer showed Obi, Kwankwaso, and other leaders holding a banner calling on the president to allow democracy to thrive.
