Senator David Mark, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said that the ADC has an unshakable promise to reposition the party so it can rescue and rebuild Nigeria.
He explained that since they started this journey the party has faced many challenges and betrayals. Powerful forces who fear a united opposition have come after them through the courts through government institutions and through all kinds of bureaucratic blocks. But he made it very clear that they will not surrender to any dictator, they will not run away, they will not hide and they will not give up because what is at stake is not just the ADC but the survival of democracy itself in Nigeria.
David Mark talked with strong confidence and told party members that strong political movements are built during hard times like this when the nation is crying out for real change. He promised they will stand with honesty integrity and courage and will never surrender to dictatorship or tyranny.
Before the National Convention could start the government denied the party access to the popular Eagle Square venue. The party then moved to the Rainbow Event Centre after paying all the fees and setting everything up. But the owner of the Rainbow Event Centre later said he was under heavy pressure from the FCDA and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike. They threatened to revoke his licence if he allowed the ADC to hold the convention there. Despite this pressure and intimidation the ADC went ahead with the National Convention as planned.
The video of his speech spread fast online, and many Nigerians are now talking about it. Some people praised him for standing strong and speaking the truth while others are watching closely to see what will happen next. The whole National Convention was full of determination about bringing different groups together and making plans to win power in 2027 making it clear that the political race is already getting very hot.
