APC is collapsing under its own weight – Ex ADC national chairman Nwosu

Ralph Nwosu the former national chairman of the African Democratic Congress spoke out clearly during a special episode of Trust TVs Sunday Politics show that broke down the recent Ibadan opposition declaration.

Nwosu said that even within the APC itself, I can tell you that as soon as we deal with this government issue, the APC will also collapse. Because there are a lot of serious leaders in Nigeria who somehow are thinking they’re in a political party, but at the moment when they discover they’re being operated by one single individual, they all want to part.

He told the host that even though lots of people from other parties are rushing to join the ADC there is no worry about too many cooks spoiling the broth.

The party has done a solid job as opposition so far and this bigger group with different views will stay united and strong no matter what pressure comes from the APC including any legal moves or other tricks while the ruling party holds government power.

Nwosu went straight to the point and said that once the current government problems get sorted the APC itself will collapse too. He explained that plenty of serious leaders across Nigeria still think they belong to a real political party, but they will all walk away the minute they realize one single person is running the whole show. The host asked if he was really sure about that and Nwosu answered without hesitation that everyone would see it happen very soon.

He then turned to the big picture of the Ibadan summit where opposition groups gathered because things in the country are going badly wrong. Nwosu reminded Nigerans that he and others including the current president had fought hard to push the military out of power back in the day and they won that battle. Yet today the level of indiscipline running through the entire system is far worse than anything seen under military rule. The host pressed him on whether he blamed the president directly and Nwosu said yes without doubt because of the president’s own style. He thought he could stay in Lagos mode and pull every political heavyweight into his pocket so they would all fall in line and run Nigeria his way but that is exactly where he got it wrong.

Nwosu pointed out that the president had the entire country of political groups at his fingertips including important ones like the NNPP faction and especially the governors and by the last count there were quite a few of them. The host asked why those governors seem scared now and Nwosu replied that all the tactics can be tried but only a couple will work. He singled out the host governor in Oyo State Seyi Makinde as a principled man who was once part of the Wike group. At first Makinde and others like Senator Bala, the governor of Bauchi believed the Wike group was doing something purposeful and patriotic but they quickly saw through it. They realized the whole thing was just propaganda to push one man’s personal agenda and the moment they understood that they pulled out and moved on.

Nwosu made it clear that this kind of shift shows the opposition is gaining real ground while the ruling party loses its grip from inside. The Ibadan declaration has set the stage for a united fight in 2027 with parties ready to field one strong presidential candidate and stop any slide toward one party control. The message from the former ADC chairman is loud and direct the ruling party is on shaky ground and the opposition is ready to step up and rescue the country.
