The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated its official records to recognise Senator David Mark as the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
This follows the Supreme Court’s unanimous judgment delivered on Thursday, April 30, 2026, which voided the Court of Appeal’s “status quo ante bellum” order that had earlier forced INEC to remove the names of Senator David Mark and his team from its portal.
As confirmed on the official INEC website inecnigeria.org, the current leadership of the ADC now lists:
- National Chairman: Senator David Mark
- National Secretary: Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola
Other key officers listed include Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad (National Treasurer), Akibu Dalhatu (National Financial Secretary), and Prof. Oserheimen Aigberaodion Osunbor (National Legal Adviser).
The Supreme Court set aside the preservative order from the Court of Appeal, describing it as wrongly made after proceedings had been concluded at that level. The apex court held that the directive could not validly subsist, thereby removing the legal barrier that led to INEC’s earlier de-recognition of the Mark-led executive.
With the status quo order vacated, INEC has restored the David Mark-led National Working Committee on its records.
This development strengthens the position of Senator David Mark and his team nationally as the ADC positions itself for the 2027 general elections.
Further official statements from INEC and the party are expected in the coming hours.
