In a move set to boost industrialization and foster economic development, Abia State is poised to establish a strategic partnership with Indonesia.

Governor Alex Otti conveyed this commitment during a meeting with the Indonesian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Usra Harahap, in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA.

Governor Otti reiterated the state government’s readiness to collaborate with foreign investors, emphasizing the potential for stimulating Abia’s economy and enhancing socioeconomic progress.

Indonesia, recognized for its innovative scientific and technological advancements and a robust gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate nearing US$1.3 trillion, has identified Aba as a key partner.

Expressing enthusiasm about the collaboration, Governor Otti outlined the diverse sectors that could benefit, including education, agriculture, entertainment, health, trade, industry, commerce, and technology.

He emphasized the importance of providing support in terms of infrastructure and seed capital, particularly for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Governor Otti proposed the establishment of an entrepreneurship and technology center in Abia, drawing inspiration from Indonesia’s successful models implemented in other countries. He believes that such initiatives will unlock the innovative potential of the state’s populace.

Indonesian High Commissioner Usra Harahap reaffirmed his country’s commitment to fostering diplomatic ties with Nigeria and Abia. Harahap highlighted Indonesia’s interest in forging partnerships in crucial sectors such as trade, agriculture, education, technology, construction and works, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, and entrepreneurship.

Encouraging collaboration between the business community and the government, Harahap urged exploration of the numerous opportunities presented by Indonesia. The partnership between Abia and Indonesia holds the promise of significant economic and industrial advancement, with both parties poised to benefit from this mutually beneficial alliance.
